Ireland has had its credit downgraded two levels by Fitch Ratings, which cited a widening budget deficit and the rising cost of bank-rescue measures.
The rating was reduced to AA- from AA+ with a “stable” outlook, the company
said today in a statement.

Reports today that consumer confidence has hit a 18 month high is welcome news for the Irish economy. Amongst the doom and gloom and chit chat about the sinking of the Ireland deeper than the Titanic (12,000 feet below sea level) this is a real sign of recovery in the economy.
